:: Wednesday, April 02, 2008 :: Florida Day Six. Our only day alone with a car! Monday was free day for the Ringling Museum. Inside and outside the museum with great works of art John Ringling collected from around the world, to include the largest Baroque painting collection in North America. That was a day in itself (with lunch at the The Banyan on the premises)...but we continued on to St. Armand's Circle for shopping and a drink at Tommy Bahama's where I had a Twisted Mojito. That evening we ate at Roy's for Dinner, and it was superb! I started with a Hawaiian Martini and for dinner had the Pepper Crusted Sirloin, with a fine Red Rock Merlot, and Mylisa had the Ono. We had one each of the prix fixe appetizers and desserts. Also the table appetizer was Edamame encrusted with sugar, salt and pepper! We could barely get home! Day Five in Florida...will it ever end!?? A trip to the Mote Aquarium with lots of animal pics (some of the inside ones are blurry) and a boat trip to search for dolphins and manatees (which we didn't find), a stop on a man made island, and past a rookery where thousands of birds nest. After the aquarium we had lunch at the Salty Dog, and then off to the Sunday night drumming circle at the beach near St. Armand's Circle... how did those girls get in there? Interesting bronze coloring I got shooting into the sun. Day Four started with all you can eat pancakes and sausage on the beach...a very windy day, followed by 18 holes at Rolling Green Golf Club. That evening we celebrated St. Patricks Day with friends of Roger & Karen at the Bradenton Yacht Club with an all-you-can-eat buffet. And now for Day Three in Florida. This day we drove south about an hour and a half to Cape Coral to visit Gerry and Dee, Mylisa's aunt and uncle. We took a boat ride up the river and had lunch at Pincher's Crab Shack. (I had the Garlic & Butter Blue Crab Clusters .. mmmm) On the way back it rained fairly heavy for about an hour. We went in and dried off, then headed out for a tour of the canals. Here are the pictures from Day Two. They include a trip to the Sarasota Jungle Gardens, (where a blue macaw sat on my arm and we saw the cockatiel that appeared on the Ed Sullivan show with Elvis in the 50's); a trip to the Sarasota Classic Car Museum that had many cars and motorbikes, many of which were owned by famous people like John & Mable Ringling, The Beatles, Don Garlits, and Jackie Gleason; and finishing off with 9 holes at the short 18 hole golf course in the community that we were staying in "Peridia.":: Tuesday, April 01, 2008 :: March 11 we took a nine day trip to Florida to see Mylisa's Dad and step mom. A great chance to getaway and get a little sun...and a lot of sightseeing! Pictures from each day will be coming up shortly...watch for future posts.
