I am currently in the middle of my first "cleanse." I was inspired by reading Clean, which I highly recommend. In the past I had tried some dieting...mostly eating good whole foods, and fairly rigorous exercise when my back was up to it. I couldn't lose weight and had serious issues with allergies.
The diet is a vegetable or fruit shake for breakfast and dinner, and a sensible meal for lunch. Recipes are in the book. I have cut out caffeine, alcohol, dairy, eggs, wheat, soy, red meat, and nightshade vegetables.
So far on day 11 I have lost 9 lbs and may allergies have reduced greatly. 10 days to go to complete the cleanse.
I have a few issues with some of the Recipes. The meals don't all seem to net the same portions, and a few steps are left out here and there...but common sense allowed me to make the best of it and figure things out.
