:: Friday, June 18, 2004 ::

Well, I get the pleasure of creating this week's MI5, maybe this has been done before, but it's high on my list, so here goes:

1. What is your favorite alltime movie?

I guess mine would have to be "The Jerk" by Steve Martin. That movie has it all... a rags to riches tale with gladness and sadness...circus life, love and loss, fame and failure. He was, after all, "born a poor black child."

Close seconds are "Young Frankenstein," "Blazing Saddles," (do we sense a Mel Brooks theme here?) and "Citizen Kane."

2. What is your preferred method of watching a movie?

DVD on a large screen TV at home...don't have one, though, 27" isn't too bad, as I'm only four feet from it. Could use a definite improvement on the sound system, though. I like the movie theatre, but there's too many distractions, and you can't drink beer and have pee breaks. That sucks.

3. How many movies do you watch a week?

I have been watching quite a few lately...usually fairly late, like 10-12. Quite a few on IFC, and I rent 2 or 3 a week. I'd say about 5 a week total. For me it's a great way to close out a day...sometimes with a nice stogie and single malt...mmmmmmmmmmm...

4. What are your favorite movie genres?

I'm a sucker for a quality comedy. Saw "Life of Brian" for the first time tonight...can you believe it!! They need to be quality. Next would come a good drama; a thoughtful plot, some romance, maybe some derring do? That brings us to action adventure which comes in about third. These are even harder to find quality versions of, though Bond flicks always fill the bill.

5. What movie type do you dislike?

B-rate Horror movies, teeny-bopper growing up cutsie movies, and japanese godzilla movies. I sometimes struggle to make myself see a documentary, they generally don't sound all that interesting to me, but I find if they're well made they can be quite intriguing.
