On my way to a gig Friday night at the Muddy Rudder in Brewer, my car's engine started squealing. Fortunately I was less than a block away, and was able to park at the Rudder. I checked oil and water, and both were fine.
So I played the gig, and when I left the squeal was quieter. I was able to get back home okay, (after getting pulled over by the cops for a alchohol test; they only asked me if and what I had to drink, then let me go), the squeal was diminished, but still there.
The next day I was going to check around to see about getting it fixed, but on Saturday most everyone was closed. Then my dad told me about another wagon just up the road from me. I checked it out, and decided to buy it. One year newer, 1994 Buick Century Wagon, grey exterior, red interior. Pics.
The items that were different from my '93 are: no roof rack (hardly ever used it), no cruise control (that sucks), no power windows (that really sucks), and no 5th rear-facing seat (who cares?). The body is in better shape than my old one, and it has working air conditioning!! Yay! It needs a new thermostat which the guy included, but it doesn't overheat...just sticks once in a while. And maybe needs new rear brakes. They grind a little. The body has 132,000 on it, but has a new used engine that has only 74,000 miles. The engine is smaller than mine, 3100 instead of 3300, so it has a little less power, but gets an extra mile to gallon of gas which is cool. $750!
Now, something new to take up my driveay!
